Indonesia Takluk 53-98 dari Jepang di Laga Perdana Asian Games

Indonesia’s men’s national basketball team opened its campaign at the 2026 Asian Games with a 53‑98 defeat to the host nation Japan.

The match was played at the Aichi International Arena in Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday, 10 September 2026. Japan took control from the first possession, scoring 29 points in the opening quarter while Indonesia managed only six.

In the second quarter, Indonesia added 12 points, but Japan increased its lead by 26 points, bringing the halftime score to 55‑21. The gap widened further in the third quarter, with Japan outscoring Indonesia 40‑14 to reach 75‑35.

Head coach David Singleton rotated his lineup, giving playing time to Andakara Prastawa, Vincent Kosasih, and naturalised players Lester Prosper and Anthony Beane in an effort to close the deficit. Despite these changes, Japan maintained a comfortable advantage, ultimately securing a 98‑53 victory.

The loss marks Indonesia’s first result of the Asian Games, and the team will face South Korea on Friday, 11 September 2026, in its next group‑stage match.

Officials and supporters hope the team can regroup and improve its performance in the upcoming game against South Korea.
