The Board of Management for Holy Name Convent in Port of Spain has initiated an independent investigation into allegations involving the newly appointed Principal, Sr. Renee Hall. This action follows widespread public concern and reactions from various stakeholders including students, parents, alumni, and the wider school community. The Board addressed these concerns in an official statement posted on social media, acknowledging the deeply personal nature of the discourse surrounding the appointment.
The investigation will be carried out independently, separate from the Board and the leadership of the Dominican Sisters, whilst adhering to the procedures set by the Ministry of Education and the Teaching Service Commission. The Board has committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and due process throughout the investigative process and has agreed to continue engaging with stakeholders in the coming weeks as part of an open and inclusive process.
The Convent has also reiterated its commitment to faith, compassion, service, and ‘Veritas’, which translates to ‘truth’. Current students have been encouraged to voice their concerns through existing channels, while additional reporting processes connected to the investigation will be established shortly.
As the situation continues to unfold, the Board has asked for patience, understanding, and prayers from all those involved.
