Late on Friday night, a 24-year-old woman was confronted and robbed at gunpoint in Chaguanas. The incident occurred near the Yoga Centre in Edinburgh Gardens, where the woman was ambushed by a man who snatched her side bag and attempted to steal her cell phone. In the ensuing struggle, the woman was struck in the face before the robber brandished what later turned out to be an imitation firearm. The assailant fled the scene with her phone, $600 in cash, and her bag, in a silver Nissan B15 driven by an accomplice. A swift police response led to the capture of both suspects in the Freeport district. The stolen items, cash, and imitation firearm were also recovered. The suspects have been identified as 26-year-old Vikash Sookdeo of Macaulay, Claxton Bay, and 21-year-old Randy Persad of Arena Road, Freeport.
