Hundreds of advocates from across India have submitted a formal representation to the Chief Justice of India concerning the events of July 21, when senior opposition leaders gathered outside the Prime Minister’s official residence without prior permission or authorisation. The petition specifically names Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Akhilesh Yadav, and several others. The advocates argue that the unauthorised protest raises serious questions about security protocols and the rule of law. The representation calls for an inquiry into the matter, emphasising that such actions set a dangerous precedent. The Chief Justice’s office has acknowledged receipt of the petition, but no official response has been issued yet.
