The Lagos State Police Command said it disrupted a suspected human‑trafficking operation in Badagry on Friday, rescuing three young girls who were being transported on a commercial motorcycle. Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) Ani Iniedu posted the details on X, stating that a patrol team intercepted the motorcycle on Owode Apa Road. “Interrogation revealed the girls were victims of human trafficking. They were rescued and debriefed, while efforts are ongoing to track down the suspected traffickers,” Iniedu said. The case is being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Panti, Yaba. In Abuja, police and the Civilian Joint Task Force raided a known criminal hideout in Kado Bimko, arresting six suspects, including Abubakar Safiyanu. The operation recovered 11 stolen mobile phones, a laptop, weapons and intoxicating substances. Iniedu noted that the prime suspect is also linked to a robbery and murder that occurred in June 2026. The CID in Abuja is handling the investigation. A separate arrest took place in Benin City, Edo State, where police detained suspected gunrunner Kingsley Eghaghe, 52. Acting on an intelligence report and a lawfully intercepted phone conversation about gun running, officers tracked and arrested Eghaghe. He has been taken into custody for a discreet investigation, with authorities expecting further developments regarding the recovery of arms and ammunition. The VCRU in Benin City is conducting the investigation.
