Hong Kong triathlon twins told greatness within reach—if they commit to 2032 Olympics

Hong Kong’s twin triathletes Cade and Tallulah Wright have been tipped to become two of the city’s greatest athletes, but their path to glory requires total commitment. Head coach Andrew Wright, no relation, said the 23-year-old sisters must focus solely on triathlon until at least the 2032 Olympics.

The twins are set to make their Asian Games debut in September, having balanced elite sport with studies at the University of Edinburgh. Tallulah recently completed her international relations degree, while Cade is considering delaying the final year of her mathematics degree.

Both performed well in final preparation races in Canada, though Cade withdrew from the individual event with a minor shin issue. ‘Tallulah and Cade both have the potential to be great athletes if they focus and stay consistent over the next four-to-six years,’ coach Wright said. ‘They are capable of winning major games medals and achieving Olympic qualification.’

The comments underscore the sacrifices required to reach the top in a demanding sport, with the twins’ academic ambitions now on hold. Hong Kong’s triathlon programme sees promise in the duo as they prepare for a challenging altitude training camp in Yunnan.
