On the evening of July 30th, 2025, two Venezuelan nationals experienced a harrowing home invasion at their apartment in Edinburgh Village, Chaguanas. At approximately 8:38 p.m., the victims, aged 25 and 28, heard unusual noises emanating from their living room. Upon investigation, they discovered a man attempting to steal an iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at $2,000 TTD. The suspect, upon being confronted, brandished a black object that resembled a firearm and attempted to rob them. However, the victims quickly deduced that the weapon appeared to be made of plastic and bravely attempted to overpower the intruder. A struggle ensued, resulting in the suspect being subdued until the police arrived on the scene. The suspect, identified as Joel Modeste from Enterprise Street, Chaguanas, was subsequently arrested by officers from the Freeport Police Station and transported to the Chaguanas Police Station for further action. He was also taken for medical attention as a precaution. Investigations into the incident are ongoing under the supervision of PC Chapman.
