Holy Ten Out on US$500 Bail After Allegedly Threatening and Raping 14-Year-Old Girl

Zimbabwean hip-hop sensation Holy Ten, real name Mukudzei Chitsama, has been granted US$500 bail following his arrest for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl. The case has sent shockwaves through the nation, with new details revealing the musician allegedly threatened to kill the victim before carrying out the assault.

The incident took place at his residence in Hatfield, Harare. According to sources, the teenager met Holy Ten on social media and was lured with a promise of featuring in a music video. On the day of the alleged crime, she visited him at a recording studio in Avondale accompanied by a friend. After the session, the friend left, and Holy Ten took the girl to his house, ostensibly to record videos. Once inside his bedroom, he allegedly locked the door, threatened her, and raped her without protection.

Following the assault, Holy Ten reportedly hired a taxi for the victim, who later confided in her aunt, leading to his arrest. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest. Four of Holy Ten’s colleagues are still at large, allegedly involved in facilitating the crime.

Appearing before Harare magistrate Jesse Kufa, Holy Ten was granted bail with conditions including surrendering his passport and reporting to the police weekly. The state did not oppose bail, citing ongoing investigations. Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe stated they await a forensic report and documents confirming the complainant’s age. The matter was remanded to August 7.

The case has reignited debates about celebrity protection and online safety for minors, with many questioning why police initially withheld the musician’s name. Holy Ten’s lawyer, Admire Rubaya, represented him in court.
