High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest: Passenger Fires at Police, FUL Holder Detained with Marijuana

On the night of June 28, police officers in Pax Vale, Santa Cruz responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. They attempted to stop a black Nissan B15, spotted driving without its headlights on. The car instead, allegedly accelerated away, leading to a high-speed chase with police sirens echoing in the background.

As the pursuit intensified, a passenger reportedly exited the moving vehicle and fired two shots at the chasing officers. The suspect managed to evade capture, disappearing into nearby bushes. Despite continuous search efforts, the individual remains at large.

The chase came to a halt on Saddle Road, where the 63-year-old driver, a resident of Pax Vale and a licensed firearm holder, surrendered peacefully. He apologized to the officers, saying, ‘Sorry boss, it’s just some weed I have.’ Moments later, officers discovered 146 marijuana plants packed in three cardboard boxes in the vehicle’s trunk.

Subsequent to the arrest, a search of the driver’s residence led to the discovery of additional quantities of suspected marijuana, two more firearms, and ammunition that was not authorized under his Firearm User’s Licence. The driver, whose Glock GES pistol and two magazines containing 34 rounds of 9mm ammunition were also retrieved, remains in police custody.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue to search for the passenger who allegedly opened fire during the chase, while also examining the scene where the shots were fired.
