High Court Supports ANSA Bank in Fraud Lawsuit

ANSA Bank has hailed the recent High Court ruling as a triumph for both the bank and Trinidad and Tobago, emphasizing that fraudulent activities and related conspiracies will not be tolerated. The bank had initiated a lawsuit in October 2023 against former employees and several companies, following whistleblower allegations of misconduct. Initial investigations showed loan transactions that violated the company’s policies. Further investigation at the Chaguanas branch unveiled an alleged conspiracy that resulted in nearly $30 million in losses over two-and-a-half years, involving 35 vehicles and properties. The bank asserted that the accused had conspired to present fraudulent documents to secure loans. Justice Frank Seepersad supported the bank’s multi-layered case, particularly against former business development officer Dwayne Rojas. ANSA Bank reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining high integrity standards, robust internal controls, and the protection of its customers, employees, and the financial system of Trinidad and Tobago.
