Heavy Rain Triggers Flash Flooding in Pattaya, Roadways Impassable

A torrential downpour early Thursday morning has caused significant flash flooding across parts of Pattaya, rendering key roadways impassable and disrupting travel throughout Chon Buri province. The most severe inundation was reported at approximately 5:00 a.m. along a road running parallel to the coast, catching many commuters off guard.

Local authorities have advised motorists to avoid the affected areas and seek alternative routes, as water levels remain high and conditions hazardous. Emergency services are on standby to assist stranded residents and visitors, though no casualties have been reported so far.

The flooding comes amid the annual monsoon season, which frequently brings heavy rains to Thailand. However, the rapid onset of Thursday’s downpour has sparked fresh concerns about the city’s drainage infrastructure and its ability to cope with extreme weather events.

Residents and business owners in the affected zones are being urged to move valuables to higher ground and stay alert for further updates. The Thai Meteorological Department has forecast additional showers, prompting warnings of possible further flooding in low-lying areas.
