The path is now clear for a decisive contest at the polls in the upcoming Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election, scheduled for January 12, 2026.
On Monday, Parliament approved the Draft Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government and Tobago House of Assembly) (Tobago) Order, 2025. The measure was presented by Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Khadijah Ameen.
The approval of this draft order authorises the issuance of the writ for the THA election in accordance with the date set by the Chief Secretary upon the Assembly’s dissolution.
