Dental amalgam, a mixture of metals including liquid mercury, silver, tin, and copper, was previously valued for its strength and durability. However, continued use in some border clinics raises concerns. Officials urge patients to verify that their dental providers use mercury-free alternatives.
The warning comes as part of broader efforts to align with global health standards and protect public health. Residents are advised to seek treatment only from accredited facilities that adhere to Bhutan’s updated guidelines.
