The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued a Hazardous Sea Alert #1 – Yellow Level, effective from 4 PM on Monday, March 2, 2026, to 6 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The northern and eastern coastal areas are anticipated to experience rough sea conditions, with wave heights exceeding 2.5m and potentially reaching up to 3.0m. These conditions are caused by strong winds agitating the sea surface, leading to large waves and potentially perilous sea conditions. Offshore activities, especially fishing and other small craft marine interests, are likely to be particularly dangerous. Spring tides might exacerbate conditions at seawalls along exposed coastlines at high tide. There is also an increased risk of strong rip currents, posing a serious hazard to swimmers and beachgoers, even those experienced. All marine interests are advised to exercise extreme caution and heed the instructions of lifeguards and authorities. Official updates should be monitored at www.metoffice.gov.tt/forecast.
