The construction company Kastberg A/S has maintained profitability every year since its founding 30 years ago. Despite this consistent financial performance, owner-manager Hans-Jørgen Kastberg has identified a strategic vulnerability: the business remains heavily dependent on his personal involvement.
For three decades, Kastberg has built the company around his own professional network, with a significant portion of the firm’s projects originating from his personal contacts and client relationships. Recognizing this reliance, Kastberg is now initiating a transition process intended to make his daily presence and direct involvement unnecessary for the company’s continued operation.
As part of this shift, Kastberg is focusing on formalizing business processes to prepare the company for a future leadership transition. He is currently documenting his approach to succession planning and the steps required to ensure the firm can function independently of its founder.
