Haiti’s CEP Launches Electoral Consultation with Political Parties

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of Haiti initiated a three-day consultation with political parties and groupings on Thursday, February 26, 2026, marking a critical step in the nation’s electoral saga. The meetings, as announced, are specifically focused on the electoral calendar, new provisions in the electoral decree, and activities already carried out.

From the outset, CEP Director Jacques Desrosiers set a firm tone, emphasizing the importance of the discussions. The sessions aim to align political stakeholders on the roadmap for the upcoming elections, which have been long delayed amid political turmoil.

The gatherings bring together diverse political formations to debate and agree on key electoral parameters. This dialogue is seen as essential to building consensus and ensuring a credible electoral process.

Observers note that the success of these consultations will be pivotal in restoring public confidence in Haiti’s democratic institutions. The CEP has committed to transparency and inclusivity in the lead-up to the polls.
