Transparency International Guyana has expressed alarm over recent reports indicating that President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali owns a substantial livestock farm located in Long Creek. The organization, which focuses on anti-corruption efforts, stated that these reports raise significant questions regarding potential conflicts of interest, the misuse of public resources, and possible breaches of the Public Integrity Act.
The organization emphasized that these revelations could undermine global confidence in the governance and investment climate of Guyana. It warned that if the situation is not addressed promptly, it may have long-term repercussions for the country’s reputation as a stable and transparent environment for investment.

The organization urged the Government of Guyana to address these allegations swiftly, stating that any delay or attempts to mislead the public could exacerbate mistrust domestically and harm the country’s international reputation. The evidence that has emerged thus far is considered serious and necessitates thorough and transparent examination.
