Guyana: Political Tensions Rise in Guyana Over Farmland Dispute

In Guyana, a political dispute has escalated between President Irfaan Ali and the prominent Mohamed family, focusing on allegations of corruption and blackmail related to a 150-acre agricultural estate on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway. The controversy began when Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed released a video accusing President Ali of misusing over $2.2 billion in state resources for personal gain. In a counter-accusation, President Ali claimed to have received threatening communications from the Mohamed family, who are under U.S. sanctions and facing federal indictments.
