A 22-year-old man, Hoesela Harris, who is currently on remand for an attempted murder charge, has been formally charged with the murder of Xavier Fraser, a taxi driver from Sophia. The charge was presented before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Monday. The allegation states that Harris unlawfully killed Fraser on December 21, 2025, at Plum Park, Georgetown.
As the charge is classified as indictable, Harris was not required to enter a plea during this court appearance. He has been remanded to prison and is scheduled to return to court on July 15, 2026, when prosecutors are expected to provide statements and other evidence to the defense.
Xavier Fraser, aged 27 and a father of two, was fatally shot during an incident at Mercy Wing, Plum Park, on the night of December 21, 2025. According to police investigations, the shooting occurred around 10:36 p.m. Fraser sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In addition to Fraser, a 19-year-old resident of Plum Park was also injured in the shooting. This teenager was admitted to the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Following the incident, Fraser’s body was taken to the hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination revealed that he died from a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to establish a motive for the shooting and identify any additional individuals involved. Harris remains in custody as the case progresses through the judicial system.
