Guyana: Integrity Commission Requests Financial Declarations from 231 Officials in Guyana

The Integrity Commission of Guyana has mandated 231 prominent officials to declare their financial assets by June 22, 2026. This order includes current and former elected officials, members of the Judicial Service Commission, members of the Guyana Elections Commission, and other senior government officials.

A notice published in the Official Gazette on May 23, 2026, outlines the consequences for those who fail to comply. Individuals who do not submit their declarations will be in violation of the Integrity Commission Act and may face a fine of GY$25,000 and a possible imprisonment of up to six months, with a maximum penalty of one year. Continued non-compliance will incur an additional penalty of GY$10,000 per day.

Among those required to file their financial declarations are former Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton and former parliamentarians Beverly Alert, Shurwayne Holder, Deonarine Ramsaroop, Dineshwar Jaiprashad, and Jermaine Figueira. Other notable individuals include Guyana’s Ambassador to Venezuela, Richard Van West Charles; Election Commissioners Vincent Alexander and Manoj Narayan; and various commissioners from different government bodies.

The list also includes several current and former mayors, Regional Chairmen, Regional Executive Officers, and Regional Councillors. In the judicial sector, the former Chief Justice and acting Chancellor of the Judiciary, Roxane George-Wiltshire, along with other judges and magistrates, are also required to submit their declarations.

Additionally, members of the Teaching Service Commission and former Deans of the University of Guyana are included in this requirement. All individuals are expected to declare their income, assets, liabilities, and other financial interests, including land and building purchases, bank cash, life insurance policies, shareholdings, directorships, motor vehicles, and any debts they may have.
