The highlight of the event will be a race between reigning national champion Dataman and former titleholder Olympic Kremlin, both of whom have confirmed their participation. This race is seen as a crucial preparation for both stables ahead of the 2026 Guyana Cup, which will take place at the Rising Sun Turf Club on August 23.

In basketball, Guyana’s Senior Men’s National Basketball Team has begun its training for the upcoming FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers, which will be hosted in Guyana from July 8–12. The training camp commenced on Monday under the guidance of newly appointed Head Coach Alan Walls at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
