Guyana: Armed Robbery in Georgetown Results in Theft of Gold Chain

An armed robbery occurred on Saturday at the intersection of Nelson Mandela Avenue and Hibiscus Street in West Ruimveldt, Georgetown. The incident resulted in the theft of a gold chain valued at approximately $500,000. According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the robbery took place around 6:02 PM.

The victim, a 46-year-old welder from Plantation Farm, East Bank Demerara, was reportedly approached by armed individuals who demanded his belongings. During the course of the robbery, shots were fired; however, no injuries were reported.

The GPF has initiated an investigation into the incident and is actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspects involved. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the robbery to come forward and assist with the investigation.
