Guyana: Albouystown Chef Shot in Neighbourhood

A 27-year-old chef was shot late Saturday night on Hunter Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, according to the Guyana Police Force. The police did not disclose the names of the victim or the assailant involved in the incident.

Reports indicate that the chef was among a group of individuals at the location when the assailant arrived around 11:30 PM and opened fire. The police stated that the suspect allegedly aimed a firearm at the victim and discharged two rounds, which struck the chef in his left thigh. Following the shooting, the assailant fled the scene on a motorcycle that was parked on the western side of Hunter Street.

The victim, who resides on Barr Street in Albouystown, was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation by individuals who witnessed the incident. Upon arrival, he was examined by a doctor on duty and subsequently admitted as a patient. The police have reported that the chef’s condition is currently stable.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The police have indicated that they plan to review video footage from Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras located in the area to assist in their investigation.

This incident is part of ongoing concerns regarding safety in the neighbourhood, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
