Gunfire Erupts in Arima Home

In the early hours of the morning, two sisters were startled awake by loud voices calling out ‘Police! Police!’ at their home on River Valley Dump Road. Shortly after, a barrage of gunfire erupted, with over 50 bullets fired at their residence. One of the sisters discovered damage to the front door and windows but managed to avoid physical harm. However, her sister, Akeisha Matieriene, was not as fortunate; she opened her front door only to be shot in both legs. Emergency Medical Technicians rushed her to Arima Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for gunshot wounds to her right thigh and left foot and is in stable condition. Northern Division Crime Scene Investigators arrived at the scene, recovering a total of 51 spent shell casings, including both 5.56mm and 9mm rounds, suggesting the use of high-powered rifles and handguns. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, as authorities work to determine the motive behind this violent attack.
