Guido Gómez Mazara, director of the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM), said on Friday that the party is unlikely to experience an internal split after the upcoming convention or the process that will select its presidential candidate. He explained that the PRM has learned from past party experiences in which personal conflicts, insults and rivalries weakened unity. Gómez Mazara emphasized that the party’s top leaders maintain continuous communication, holding meetings and social gatherings that he believes help preserve camaraderie and prevent confrontations. He added that the PRM’s leaders possess the merit, capacity, talent and conditions to assume political responsibilities, and that maintaining party unity is essential for the upcoming electoral challenges. The comments were made during an interview with journalist Luis Brito on the program “Tiempo de Noticia,” broadcast by the digital platform of “El Nuevo Diario TV.” When asked which PRM presidential aspirants he considered most likely to succeed, Gómez Mazara declined to express a preference and reminded that the party is committed to avoiding early internal conflicts. He encouraged leaders with ambitions and support within the party or society to defend their projects, but urged that energies be directed toward competing with external political opponents rather than internal disputes.
