Grattis Yle! – här är era 100 år

**Yle Celebrates 100 Years of Broadcasting**

*Helsinki, Finland –* The Finnish public‑service broadcaster Yle marked its centenary on Saturday, 9 September 2024, with a series of live concerts broadcast across the country. The celebrations were open to all Finns, who could watch the events on television or online.

Yle was founded on 9 September 1926, the same day that its first radio broadcast was transmitted. The inaugural program was presented by Alexis af Enehjelm, one of the early “hallåorna” – a now‑obsolete profession of radio announcers. Yle phased out the hallåorna in radio in 2012 and in television around 2016.

The anniversary programming included concerts for both children and adults, allowing listeners and viewers to experience a nostalgic journey through the broadcaster’s history. The event was part of a broader celebration of Yle’s 100‑year legacy in Finnish media.
