The Accountant General’s Office has signed a partnership agreement with SUTURA, a home-grown digital payment platform, to broaden access to government payment services. The deal, inked on Friday at the Accountant General’s Conference Hall in Banjul, will integrate SUTURA into the government’s digital payment ecosystem, enabling citizens to pay taxes, fees, and other public service charges through multiple electronic channels.

Deputy Accountant General Clara Saine Mendy called the partnership a milestone in the country’s Public Financial Management reforms. She noted that the government has spent years building an integrated digital payment system and welcomed SUTURA as a strategic partner to further strengthen the platform. ‘This journey started several years ago, and today you are joining an initiative that is already transforming the way government collects revenue,’ she said.

The initiative is part of a broader drive towards a cashless economy, enhanced transparency, and efficiency in public finance management. Mendy emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond adding a payment channel—it aims to make government services more convenient for citizens while optimizing domestic revenue mobilization.

Samba Ceesay, Head of Finance at GAMPOST, said the postal corporation shares the government’s vision of bringing services closer to citizens. ‘Our mandate is to ensure financial services reach people at their doorsteps,’ he noted. Managing Director of Nifty ICT Solutions, Jalamang Jobarteh, assured full cooperation, stating, ‘Excellence is our guiding principle.’

SUTURA, developed by Nifty ICT Solutions in partnership with GAMPOST, is designed to facilitate secure electronic transactions. The latest partnership is expected to strengthen The Gambia’s efforts to modernize public finance management and reduce reliance on cash.
