Government has defended its new vehicle tint regulations, pointing to a reported 25 percent decline in serious crime as evidence that its broader security strategy is working.
Officials say the reduction reflects the success of enhanced surveillance measures, including expanded CCTV coverage across key areas such as Georgetown. The authorities are now aiming to drive crime rates even lower by improving detection capabilities.
According to the Home Affairs Minister, criminals have been exploiting heavily tinted vehicles to avoid identification, particularly when committing traffic violations or fleeing crime scenes. By tightening regulations, the government expects to close that gap and improve law enforcement response.
The policy forms part of a wider effort to replicate recent successes in crime reduction across multiple regions of the country.
