The Government has announced the expansion of its water tank farm initiative to provide relief to communities facing ongoing water shortages across Trinidad and Tobago.
Speaking at a media briefing, officials confirmed that Cabinet has approved the rollout of additional tank farms in areas including Moruga Tableland, Mayaro, and Cumuto Manzanilla. The initiative follows a pilot project in Siparia, where increased truckborne supply significantly improved water access.
Authorities noted that several southern and southeastern communities continue to face severe water challenges, particularly during the dry season. The expansion aims to improve distribution efficiency and reduce the time residents go without pipe-borne water.
The project is expected to cost approximately $7.5 million and will be completed within six weeks once procurement is finalized.
