Government Confirms No Approval for $1,000 Airbridge Fares

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has clarified that the proposed $1,000 airbridge fares have not been officially approved as policy. Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Dr Roodal Moonilal, addressed the issue, stating that the Cabinet has not considered or made a decision regarding flights priced at this level between the islands.

Dr Moonilal described recent reports suggesting the approval of these higher fares as misleading. He emphasized that while there have been discussions about airbridge fares in the public domain, no concrete policy has been established by the government. This clarification aims to address the confusion that has emerged from the ongoing conversations surrounding the topic.

The Minister’s comments come in light of increasing speculation regarding the airbridge service, which is crucial for travel between Trinidad and Tobago. Dr Moonilal reassured the public that any proposal regarding the fares does not reflect an official government stance at this time.

The Government seeks to maintain transparency and provide accurate information to the public amid what they term as misleading narratives. As discussions continue, officials are keen to ensure that the community is well-informed about the status of air travel fares and any potential changes that may arise in the future.
