Gonzales: 82 Murders Since UNC Took Office, Crime Expected to Rise

Marvin Gonzales, the MP for Arouca/Lopinot and Chairman of the PNM, expressed serious concerns regarding the escalating crime rates in the country during an interview on CCN TV6. Since the United National Congress (UNC) took office on April 28, there have been a staggering 82 murders, highlighting a troubling trend in public safety under the current administration. Gonzales criticized the government for its lack of effective crime prevention strategies, stating, “Don’t expect to see anything — the government has not offered one scintilla of a program or anything that looks like a holistic strategy to tackle crime.” He further pointed out that despite the removal of previous officials, like Fitzgerald Hinds, the crime situation remains dire, suggesting that the UNC’s governance is exacerbating the issue.
