The Government of Belize (GOB) has increased the monthly threshold for the General Sales Tax (GST) exemption on residential electricity bills from $100 to $200.
The change, announced by the GOB, is intended to provide relief to Belizeans who are experiencing higher electricity costs.
Under the new policy, households with electricity bills up to $200 per month will not be subject to GST, while bills above that amount will continue to be taxed.
GOB officials said the adjustment aims to ease the financial burden on residents amid rising energy prices.
