Gin Breaks Silence on Shan Split, Says Rebrand Hppened Behind Her Back

What started as two cousins talking, laughing and sharing their unfiltered perspectives with an online audience has ended painful split, with Gin of Gin & Shan Entertainment now breaking her silence on what she says led to the collapse of their partnership.

In a candid video addressing the fallout, Gin revealed that she and her cousin Shan officially parted ways professionally around the middle of June, bringing an end to the partnership behind the popular Gin & Shan Entertainment brand.

The revelation comes just months after the pair appeared to be riding a wave of momentum.

Gin and Shan had built their following around their chemistry, humour and frank conversations about life, relationships, careers and womanhood from a Caribbean perspective. In January, the cousins appeared together on The South Central Podcast, where they were introduced as the duo behind Gin & Shan Entertainment.

Then, on May 23, Gin & Shan Entertainment celebrated the first anniversary of its podcast with a public meet-and-greet at Sommelier in Port of Spain.

According to Gin, however, the partnership would officially fall apart only weeks later.

Rather than placing all the blame on Shan, Gin acknowledged that she also contributed to problems within the business.

She said she had been juggling too many responsibilities and admitted that the foundation of the operation had become stretched too thin.

Gin said she subsequently apologised, attempted to communicate and presented several ideas for how they could pivot and move forward. According to her, those attempts did not result in an agreement.

She also admitted that it took her some time to publicly acknowledge that the partnership was over because she did not want to accept that something they had built together had ended.

But the most serious part of Gin’s account concerned what she says happened behind the scenes as the relationship deteriorated.

Gin claimed that a rebranding of the operation took place without her knowledge, describing it as something that happened “right under my nose”.

She also spoke extensively about passwords, two-factor authentication and the dangers of allowing only one partner in a business to have administrative control.

Gin suggested that she had been locked out after passwords were changed, using her experience to warn other business partners to ensure contracts are properly established and control of important digital assets is shared.

She urged people entering partnerships to make sure one person cannot simply change passwords and remove the other person from accounts.

Gin’s statements amount to her account of what occurred. There is currently insufficient publicly available information to independently establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged password changes, account access or rebranding.

The dispute also appears to have gone far beyond business.

Gin and Shan are cousins, and Gin became emotional while discussing the damage done to their personal relationship.

She said she still loves and misses her cousin, but acknowledged that her heart had been broken by what happened. She also revealed that the experience affected her confidence and self-esteem and made it difficult for her to continue creating content.

Using a SWOT analysis to explain the rise and fall of their partnership, Gin identified their chemistry and ability to create content as major strengths.

Trust and communication, however, emerged as central weaknesses in her assessment.

She even identified family as one of the potential threats that affected the business, while maintaining that communication, transparency and compromise could have produced a different outcome.

Despite the obvious hurt, Gin stopped short of launching an all-out attack against Shan.

Instead, she repeatedly stressed accountability, saying both people involved had a role to play while limiting her comments primarily to her own actions and perspective.

Her central message was that “accountability is not punishment”, but an opportunity for improvement.

Publicly available material confirms that Gin and Shan had operated as cousins and co-hosts under the Gin & Shan Entertainment banner. Their joint online presence dates back to at least 2025, and the pair were still publicly promoting themselves together during the first half of 2026.

However, Gin’s latest account paints a very different picture of what was happening behind the scenes as the partnership approached its end.

What appeared to audiences as a successful entertainment duo was, according to Gin, dealing with communication failures, disagreements over the future of the operation and ultimately a breakdown in trust and access to the business.

For Gin, the loss appears to be bigger than a podcast or entertainment brand.

It is also the loss, at least for now, of a relationship with someone she repeatedly describes not merely as a former business partner, but as her cousin.

No independently verified public response from Shan addressing Gin’s specific claims about the rebranding, passwords or account access was identified at the time of publication.
