**GDF Officer Cadet Selected for Training at Sandhurst**
*Georgetown, Guyana – September 7, 2026* – Fianna Maria Tading, an 18‑year‑old officer cadet of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), has become the first member of the GDF to be selected for training at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, in the United Kingdom.
Tading applied to join the GDF with the aim of challenging herself and building a better future for herself and her sisters. Five months into the Standard Officer Course (SOC) No. 58, she was chosen to attend the prestigious Sandhurst program, a milestone that marks a historic achievement for the Guyana Defence Force.
The selection is part of the GDF’s ongoing efforts to enhance the professional development of its officers and to strengthen ties with international military training institutions. The Royal Military College, Sandhurst, is renowned for producing leaders for the British Army and allied forces worldwide.
The GDF has not yet announced the duration of Tading’s training at Sandhurst or the specific program she will undertake. However, the decision is expected to provide her with advanced leadership and tactical training that will benefit the Guyana Defence Force upon her return.
