40-year-old Doodnath Khan, a gardener from Barataria, Trinidad and Tobago, is reportedly kidnapped and held for ransom in Tucupita, Venezuela, according to his family. Khan was last seen on Friday 20 February 2026, leaving for work in his white H100 vehicle. He contacted his family later that evening, indicating he would be home soon. However, early the next morning, Khan made a WhatsApp video call identifying himself as “James” and claiming he had been kidnapped and his captors demanded TT$200,000 for his release. The call abruptly ended, and a subsequent call repeated the ransom demand. Barataria police officers who visited Khan’s workplace found the door open, with stains resembling blood outside, a bloody cutlass, a knapsack, slippers, and a tie-strap, but no one was present. Investigations are ongoing, and Khan’s family remains deeply concerned for his safety.
