The Georgia Department of Public Health has reported that the measles outbreak in the state has increased to three additional confirmed cases. The new cases were identified in Macon County, where the original patient had contact with a confirmed measles case from Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is currently experiencing an outbreak that has surpassed 1,100 cases. The department has notified individuals who may have been exposed and are at increased risk of developing measles. Measles is highly contagious and spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Public health officials are monitoring the situation closely and encouraging vaccination to prevent further spread.
