Szeged-Csanád GA suffered a 1-0 defeat against Kecskeméti TE in the eighth round of the NB II football championship. The match, held at the Széktói Stadium in Kecskemét, saw the visitors unable to secure points before the upcoming three-week league break.
Szeged-Csanád GA head coach Zsolt Laczkó was without team captain Levente Vágó due to a minor injury. The first half remained scoreless, though Kecskemét created more dangerous opportunities. In the 23rd minute, Kecskemét’s Barnabás Németh missed a penalty kick after a foul was called against a Szeged defender.
The match remained largely a midfield battle until the latter stages. Szeged’s most significant chance occurred after 70 minutes when Kristóf Tóth-Gábor headed a cross from Kalmár toward the goal, but the Kecskemét goalkeeper made the save.
The decisive moment arrived in the 82nd minute. Following a cross from the right side, Göblyös headed the ball back to Péter Beke, who scored with a volley from approximately seven meters to secure the 1-0 victory for Kecskemét.
Following the match, Zsolt Laczkó stated that the game felt like a draw, noting that while both teams had opportunities, Kecskemét capitalized on theirs. He added that his team did not deserve to lose and emphasized the need to maintain their fighting spirit while improving their results.
The league now enters a three-week break. Szeged-Csanád GA is scheduled to return to action on October 10 against Mezőkövesd.
