The Government has approved a $20 million upgrade to the Freeport Water Treatment Plant as part of efforts to improve water supply across central Trinidad.
Officials say the upgrade will benefit several communities, including Couva, Chaguanas, Claxton Bay, and Caroni Central, where residents have experienced ongoing supply issues.
The project will focus on modernizing aging infrastructure and increasing capacity, addressing longstanding concerns linked to outdated systems.
Authorities emphasized that the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to improve long-term water reliability across the country.
