The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has announced that Zambia’s national strategic maize reserves have reached three million metric tonnes. This figure represents the highest volume of maize ever recorded in the country’s history.
The milestone was achieved in September during the ongoing 2026 crop marketing season. FRA Executive Director Justin Chuunka stated that the current pace of maize procurement indicates that the grain reserves are at a record level.
