On Thursday, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted a Halloween celebration at the White House that drew roughly 6,000 visitors. The event took place on the south lawn of the presidential residence, which was transformed into a festive setting with pumpkins, costumes, and themed music. Children in a wide range of costumes—including dinosaurs, soldiers, historical figures, and even bananas—were welcomed by the presidential couple. Trump and Melania distributed large chocolate bars that had been specially produced for the occasion. One boy, dressed as one of the Founding Fathers, presented Trump with a document resembling the U.S. Constitution or the Declaration of Independence, which the president signed. Trump also signed autographs on the jackets of two boys dressed as race car drivers. A highlight of the evening was the flight of Air Force One over the White House. Trump paused to show the aircraft to the children before it flew over the lawn again. The event was accompanied by music from the U.S. Air Force Band, and Trump was seen dancing to the theme from the film “Ghostbusters.” Decorations included a large, illuminated orange moon with animated silhouettes of bats, as well as numerous pumpkins scattered across the lawn. The White House was also adorned with a glowing orange moon backdrop. Members of the Trump administration and their families—such as Pete Hegseth, Stephen Miller, and Jamieson Greer—attended the celebration. Military and police families, as well as foster and adoptive families, were also invited. During the event, children received coloring books from the U.S. Treasury Department and science experiment kits.
