Former Minister Takes Charge of NCRHA

Dr Tim Gopeesingh, former education minister, has taken up the role of chairman at the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) after nearly 30 years, with a commitment to address long-standing issues within the RHA. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Trinidad and Tobago once again after his long political career. The NCRHA is now overseen by a nine-member board, including a senior figure in the nursing community, Nurse Lezama. The board will oversee major facilities including Mount Hope Medical Sciences Complex, Caura Hospital, Arima Hospital, and several regional health centres. Gopeesingh’s priorities include human resource management, reducing the surgical backlog, and improving patient satisfaction. He plans to strive for cost-effective procurement and better supplier collaboration to ensure the sustainability of care, while working closely with the Ministry of Health and other RHAs.
