Dr. Lenny Saith, a distinguished former minister and recipient of the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (ORTT), has passed away. With an engineering background, Dr. Saith devoted over two decades to public service and politics, beginning his parliamentary career in January 1992. He served as Minister of Planning and Development and later as Leader of Government Business in the Senate during the 4th Republican Parliament. His roles expanded over time, including significant positions as Minister of Public Administration and Information, and Minister of Energy and Energy Industries. In November 2007, he was appointed Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister under then Prime Minister Patrick Manning. Dr. Saith was instrumental in numerous legislative initiatives and served on various key committees throughout his career. His contributions to governance were formally recognized in 2017 when he received the ORTT, the nation’s highest honor.
