UEFA, AFC, and Concacaf Criticize FIFA Over World Cup Plans
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and Concacaf have jointly accused FIFA of a “fundamental breach of trust” and “deception” regarding plans to sell a stake in the World Cup. This move increases pressure on FIFA President Gianni Infantino ahead of the FIFA presidential election scheduled for next March.
In an open letter addressed to the football community, released on Monday, the three organizations expressed their concerns. The letter marks an escalation of tensions between these major football confederations and FIFA, with the World Cup at the center of the dispute.
