Fire Rekindles at Burnt Business Site; Fire Service Cautions Vigilance

Fire officers had to return to the location of Product Central Trinidad Limited on Cipero Street, San Fernando, after reignitions were noticed at the site a day after a severe fire wiped out the business. The reignitions were a result of smouldering material trapped beneath the collapsed roofing. Revisiting the site, fire officers successfully extinguished the remaining hotspots. The fire, which broke out at the Christmas Centre outlet on Cipero Street, caused extensive damage to the business, with losses estimated at over $4 million, not including the building’s cost. Following this incident, the Fire Service is urging business owners to stay alert after fires, as reignitions can happen hours or even days later if hidden hotspots are not properly monitored.
