Fire at Gas Compound Injures Four Employees

A fire broke out at the Ramco Industries Ltd compound in San Fernando, injuring four employees who had to be rushed to the hospital on Thursday evening. The compound houses hundreds of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) and propane gas tanks. Two of the injured employees are in a critical condition. Firefighters from the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services (TTFS) responded to the distress call at around 6:57 pm and managed to extinguish the fire within an hour. The fire reportedly occurred at the southern end of the building where propane cylinders were located and hydrostatic testing was being conducted. Energy Minister, Dr. Roodal Moonilal, praised the fire service for their professional response and assured that the injured employees will receive the best medical care. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
