The pan-African research network Afrobarometer has released findings from a recent public opinion survey regarding political equality and access to leadership roles for women in Senegal. The study surveyed citizens aged 18 and older to gauge public sentiment on gender parity in the political sphere.
According to the data, 78 percent of Senegalese respondents expressed support for equal political rights for women. Conversely, 21 percent of those surveyed held opposing views on the matter.
Afrobarometer conducts these periodic surveys across the continent to measure citizen perceptions on governance, democracy, and social equality. The organization aims to provide empirical data to inform discussions on political participation and the representation of women in positions of responsibility.
