Federal authorities have thwarted a significant terrorist plot aimed at New Year’s Eve celebrations in Southern California, as announced on December 15, 2025. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has made several arrests in connection with the alleged scheme. Over the weekend, four suspects were detained in the Lucerne Valley region, believed to be part of an extremist cell linked to the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF). TILF is perceived as pro-Palestinian, anti-government, and anti-law enforcement, allegedly plotting synchronized attacks in Los Angeles and Orange County on New Year’s Eve. The suspects were reportedly preparing improvised explosive devices at the time of arrest, with charges including conspiracy and possession of unregistered destructive devices. Meanwhile, a fifth suspect was apprehended in New Orleans, believed to be part of the same extremist network. The FBI and the Department of Justice coordinated the arrests as part of a broader effort to prevent domestic terror threats during the holiday season. The operation likely averted an imminent, potentially deadly attack. More details about the investigation and charges will be provided in a forthcoming press conference.
