Father seeks work and assistance to support his four children.

A Carlsen Field family with four young children is appealing to the public for assistance after financial difficulties and a prolonged period without steady employment have left them struggling to meet basic household, school and baby expenses. The parents said they are caring for three boys, ages 12, nine and eight, as well as a five-month-old baby girl. With the children preparing to return to school, the family says purchasing textbooks, stationery and other school necessities has become increasingly difficult. However, the father stressed that he is not simply looking for handouts — he is also asking for an opportunity to work. He said he previously worked in construction but has been without regular employment for approximately two to three months after the company he worked with laid off several employees. He also earns money through gardening, but said unfavourable weather conditions have further reduced his ability to find work. The father described himself as a mason and general handyman and said he is prepared to take on almost any honest job, with the exception of electrical work. He said he is willing to do masonry, block work, gardening, yard cleaning, house cleaning, window cleaning and other general jobs in an effort to provide an income for his family. “I am willing to work,” he stressed during the appeal, explaining that asking for assistance does not mean he is unwilling to help himself. The family is also facing immediate expenses associated with caring for their five-month-old daughter. They identified baby formula, cereal, pampers, wipes and other baby essentials among the items they are struggling to purchase. Their living conditions have added another challenge. According to the father, heavy rainfall regularly causes significant water accumulation along the road where the family lives, making it difficult for the children to get to school. He said the children sometimes require raincoats and boots to navigate the conditions, while particularly heavy rainfall can result in water entering their home. He explained that the family’s house was constructed using second-hand materials he was able to obtain and reuse in an effort to provide shelter for his children. Despite the family’s circumstances, the parents say they remain determined to provide for their children. During the interview, their eight-year-old son also proudly revealed that he placed first in his recent school tests, providing a bright moment amid the family’s difficulties. The family says even small contributions would be appreciated, particularly assistance with children’s textbooks and stationery, baby supplies and other necessities. More importantly, the father is hoping someone may be able to offer him employment so that he can once again earn an income and support his household.
