A Trinidad and Tobago father is speaking out publicly after claiming that investigations into allegations made against him were concluded with no evidence, yet he remains separated from his daughter.
In a series of social media posts, Kean Kirton said he has been unable to have normal physical access to his daughter for more than four years following allegations that he says were later determined to be fabricated after investigations by authorities.
Kirton stated that the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service both investigated the claims and concluded that there was no evidence to support them. Despite this, he says he continues to face restrictions on contact with his daughter.
According to his posts, the court currently allows him limited communication with the child through a 30-minute supervised virtual call once per week, while he also remains responsible for paying monthly maintenance.
Kirton also expressed concern that he does not know where his daughter currently attends school and questioned what remedies exist when a parent believes allegations made during custody disputes are later proven to be false.
He further argued that when investigations close without findings, there should be clearer outcomes to address reputational and financial damage caused by false accusations.
In his posts, he also shared emotional messages directed to his daughter, noting that he has missed several of her birthdays and continues to hope for more time together in the future.
The issue has sparked discussion online about custody disputes, parental access, and the role of authorities in investigating allegations involving children.
Officials from the Children’s Authority and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service have not publicly commented on the specific claims made in the posts.
Family law experts often note that custody and access matters are typically determined by the courts based on the best interests of the child, and restrictions can remain in place while legal matters continue to be addressed.
