Fatal Bar Shooting in Penal

A 28-year-old man, Khedon Kyle Belmontes, was tragically shot and killed in the parking lot of a bar in Penal late last night. Police discovered his body half-slumped into a nearby drain shortly after midnight, following reports of loud explosive sounds emanating from the bar. Witnesses stated that Belmontes had been seen alone moments earlier, enjoying a meal in the parking area. Authorities suspect that the motive behind the shooting may be revenge. A bar patron, alerted by the loud noises, exited the establishment only to find Belmontes motionless on the ground. First responders arrived to find him lying on his back with multiple gunshot wounds. At the crime scene, investigators recovered one projectile, along with 21 spent 5.56 caliber ammunition casings and five live rounds of 9mm ammunition. Belmontes was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been sent to Boodoo’s Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination at the Forensic Science Centre. The Homicide Bureau of Investigations has taken over the case, with Crime Scene Investigators processing the area for further evidence.
